In the Beginning, God...

Today I did double duty at church. I spent an hour with the most amazing little three year olds in the world, teaching them the story about Noah's Ark and about God's promises. They learned that they can trust God and he loves them. Sometimes all I need is a simple, 3 year old bible story to put things into perspective. As much as I enjoying spending time with them, I equally enjoy and need that time in "adult" church, focusing on God and my relationship with him.

I had a moment during worship today that just stopped me in my tracks. We were singing the song, "You're Beautiful" and it completely overwhelmed me and took my breath away. It was one of those reminders to just stop and pray.

"You're Beautiful"

I see Your face in every sunrise The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes The world awakens in the light of the day I look up to the sky and say You're beautiful I see Your power in the moonlit night Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright We are amazed in the light of the stars It's all proclaiming who You are You're beautiful I see You there hanging on a tree You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me Now You are sitting on Your heavenly throne Soon we will be coming home You're beautiful When we arrive at eternity's shore Where death is just a memory and tears are no more We'll enter in as the wedding bells ring Your bride will come together and we'll sing You're beautiful I see Your face, I see Your face I see Your face, You're beautiful You're beautiful You're beautiful

I find God in the smallest of things. He sends me reminders through songs, through bible passages, through other people, my kids, the sunset...

Have you seen the sky this week? It has been breathtaking. It reminds me that HE has made everything. From the biggest to the smallest. Nothing is insignificant for him. No one is insignificant for him. He made this beautiful sunset as a reminder of his glory and perfection, the faithfulness of the Lord and is a reminder to look up to the Heavens.

As we were driving home from church this morning, my 4 year old picked up one of the books in the car that is titled "God Knows Me" and we talked about how God created us. He knows the hairs on our heads, where we would go to school, who our friends would be, what our weaknesses would be. Before we were created, he knew what our family would be like, what talents we would have, what color eyes we would have, where we would live...and the list goes on and on.

Today I am grateful for a God that knows my heart. Who knows what I struggle with. Who forgives me. Who loves me no matter what wrong choices I make.

"Holy Spirit, You are welcome here. Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere. Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for, To be overcome by Your presence, Lord."
