Logan, 15 days

I used to be so afraid to photograph "older" newborns. So many photographers will say that 7 day babies are the best or 5 days or 10 days or they won't photograph after two weeks. I have to admit that I did the same thing when I first started...then I learned better.

This guy was 15 days old and such a dream. I've found that I prefer babies around two weeks old. It seems that feeding gets easier, the parents start to get into a routine and it's more relaxed.

This momma was one of the most relaxed first-time moms I've ever met. She was content to let me take control (which is great) and seemed to love everything I did. She had asked that we include two outfits that her friend had made which was fun to add some customization to the session (check out that cute snowman below!), and we chatted easily throughout the session. We even got some cute awake shots at the end!

This session was fun because it was the first time I had an assistant. Thanks Laura! It's also fun to be able to start teaching photography and newborn posing. I have a passion for helping new photographers. My thought process that their success doesn't mean my failure and vice versa. Plus I'm using that teaching degree of mine again!

Here are my favorites of Baby Logan. Stay tuned for a sneak peek video!
